All About Cumberland Kiwanis
The Cumberland Kiwanis Club is a part of the
Kiwanis International organization. Every service organization has a major
focus of interest...and for Kiwanis it is Serving the Children of the World.
The various projects of the Cumberland Kiwanis Club seek to support and serve
kids and youth in our community in many ways.
The Cumberland Kiwanis Club is a
community-based club made up of men and women of all professions, ages,
permanent residents, snowbirds, and summer friends. Our goal is to make the
Cumberland area a better place to live, work, raise families, retire, and
especially to support our young people.
Kiwanis members meet once a week for noon
lunch at The Corner Bar Restaurant. The highlight and probably most enjoyable feature
of these weekly gatherings is the speaker program. Almost every Monday meeting
includes an interesting speaker or program. One new member recently said,
"Through Kiwanis, in one year, I've met more people and learned more about
Cumberland than in the past many years since we've lived here!"
Kiwanis members participate in a few on-going
service projects, including:
¥
Set-up and take down of the Red Cross Bloodmobile
¥
Fall and Spring Highway clean-up
¥
Maintenance of "Welcome Signs" at the entrances to Cumberland

Kiwanis members have four major fundraisers
each year:

¥
The Rutabaga Festival Food Stand
¥

Proceeds from these fundraisers support
several programs in the Cumberland area.
