by Cumberland School Superintendent Barry Rose, High School Principal Ritchie
Narges gave an overview of the Senior Speaker Program and then introduced two
of the students who were to present their senior speeches. Sophia Allen focused her talk on the
many gifts in her life with which she has been blessed. These included her personal faith, her
parents, her friends, and her opportunity to perform in the dance team. Graham Severson gave a moving story of
what it is like to grow up in a broken home, and to overcome the obstacles
presented by conflict between parents.
Participation in soccer, baseball, and attention to academics were
saving elements. Following the
speeches, Kiwanis President Deb Kunferman presented the students with their
certificates of completing the Senior Speech graduation requirement.
