Mr. Scaicca introduced the
topic with a Powerpoint overview of technology resources and implementation in
the Cumberland School District.
The four purposes of using technology are: motivation, retention, reinforcement and transfer of
learning. The district is blessed
with a rich array of resources, including 8 computer labs, projector systems in
classrooms with interactive capability.
The district also partners with 3M. An Interactive TV System in the high school permits distance
learning. The software includes
MAP (Measurement of Academic Progress), which is used to test students every
two years and diagnose areas that need further attention.
Josh and Rachel then
presented a video overview of technology use in the schools, followed by a
demonstration of portable test responders by Ms. Schnell.
