Brenda Kupferschmidt gave a
brief introduction to the services provided by Johnson, Agen and Kupferschmidt
at their three offices in Cumberland, Barron, and Rice Lake. Now in tax season, she noted that the
firm does over 2500 tax preparations each year. Paul Kiolbasa was introduced as a newer member of the firm.
There followed a series of
far-ranging questions related to taxes and investing. In response to a question regarding possible tax return
audits, Ms. Kupferschmidt assured people that they would Òtake care of it.Ó The choice of investing in bonds vs.
stocks was raised. It was noted
that many investors are feeling more positive now that there is some rebound in
the market. Hedge funds received a
mixed review. In periods of
recovery, small caps tend to lead large caps. Members present were given a package of information on taxes
and investing.
