Once more, Cumberland Kiwanis
enjoyed a forensic performance by two Cumberland High School graduating
seniors. The performance satisfies
a local school requirement for graduation. The two young men, who are both active in forensics, gave a
spirited dialogue of repartee.
Both of them are planning to continue study with the University of
Wisconsin-Barron County.
Following the presentation,
Tim Heffernan gave an overview of the Cumberland Educational Foundation and
urged members to attend the annual banquet and auction on May1. Since 2002, the Foundation has
accumulated some $290,000 and already has been able to fund several projects
for the schools. The goal for the
fund is $1 million. Projects
supported so far include the Skylab, an author-in-residence, the Incredible
Back Yard nature area, and canoes for water sport education.
