Mike Davis
Speaker: Mike Davis, Clubhouse Manager,
Cumberland Golf Club
Topic: State of the Cumberland Golf Club
Mike Davis is in his third
year as Manager of the Cumberland Golf Course. He has spent a total of six years in the industry after
receiving a degree in Golf Management from U. W. Stout.
He gave a brief overview of the
management of the course along with a description of some current
projects. These include leveling
of Tee #4, work on a boat dock on Beaver Dam Lake, and fence repair. He praised the work of volunteers strongly, with good
turn-outs whenever help is needed.
After some decline,
membership is up from a low point in 2005. In 2007 there were 241 memberships and last year it was up
to 306. After the opening on March
25 there are already 196.
Cumberland has reciprocity
with four other courses in the area to allow players to pay member rates. The
Club restaurant is much improved.
Special programs, such Junior Golf, a menÕs league, match play and
ÒscramblesÓ are offered. Finances
are sound with the course no longer dependent upon using a line of credit.
