Rick Hensel
Speakers: Rick Hensel, Treasurer, Cumberland Cub
Scout Pack
Topic: Cub Scout Program Report
Cumberland Kiwanis is the
charter sponsor for the pack. Currently
there are 58 boys in the Cub Scout program. The meetings are twice a month, with the large meeting of
all dens at the American Legion Hall.
The goal of the program is to prepare the boys for Boy Scouts. Four boys advanced to Boy Scouts this
week.
In addition to the regular
Scouting activities, the Cubs perform a variety of community services,
including such things as highway trash cleanup, work with the rifle range,
gathering food and donations for the food shelf, etc.
Continuity of leadership is
an issue, since most leaders are parents of Cubs and participate only as long
as their boys are in the program. Phil
Warner is the current Cubmaster.
Tom Hallgren is the current representative to the Pack. Help is needed to recruit adult
leaders.
Summer camp is in August and
there is a Òlock-inÓ in Eau Claire.
Boys pay only $15 to register for Cubs. Money is raised through popcorn sales once a year. Cumberland Kiwanis provides a small
grant each year and President Deb Kunferman presented Mr. Hensel with a check
at the close of the meeting.
