Speaker: Angela Goodwin, Ayres Associates of Eau
Claire
Topic: Project with the City of Cumberland
Ms. Goodwin outlined four
major projects that her company is working on for the City of Cumberland. The projects are:
1. Replacement Water
Tower. The new facility will
increase the water capacity from 300,000 to 600,000 gallons, and increase water
pressure due to its height. With
State grants and low interest loans, there will be no need to increase water
fees.
2. Street and Utilities
Extension behind Burger King. Will
provide opportunity for business development. Potential grant for $800,000 to cover costs.
3. Water System/Mains Improvements. $500,000 grant.
4. Roads Improvements. A portion of 2nd Street
north by the lake will be rebuilt.
Several questions
followed. Ms. Goodwin provided a
description of the new water tower design, with a concrete base and steel
tank. Paint schemes are being
reviewed.
The current four water wells
are being tested to see if they have enough capacity to meet demands. If not, a new well costs ca. $1M.
