Cumberland Kiwanis
Minutes of December 7, 2009
Speaker: Pastor Steve Miller, Cumberland Men's
Chorus
Topic: Annual Christmas Program/Concert
Pastor Miller presented a
homily appropriate to the Christmas season. He told a story about a student and professor engaged in a
discussion of the relationships between science and religion. Using the metaphor of heat and cold, day
and night, he touched on the origin of evil, evil being a condition marked by
the absence of God. Pastor Steve
credited C. S. Lewis' book, Mere Christianity, for inspiration in such
questions.
Following the talk, the Club
was treated to several holiday renditions by the Cumberland Men's Chorus,
directed by Ron Ruppel.
